Skagway
Sightseeing Tours:
The Skagway Spectacular, a Skagway sightseeing tour, combines a tour of historic Skagway, a tour of the scenic
White Pass Summit Area, and a tour of the Skagway River. This
Skagway Sightseeing Tour parallels the White Pass
& Yukon Route Railroad train ride much of the way to the White Pass
Summit Area. At 3.5 hours, the Skagway Spectacular Tour is the most entertaining and comprehensive motor vehicle tour offered in Skagway, Alaska and is rich in our Klondike Gold Rush history.
Remember:
Your visit to Skagway cannot be complete without experiencing the White Pass - taking the Skagway Spectacular is your most cost effective means to see the wilderness which inspired Robert Service and Jack London! |
|
Your tour guide begins
your shore excursion with a drive through tour
of Skagway's Historic District; bringing to life
Skagway's lawless days during
the Klondike Gold Rush of 1897-99. During this time Skagway, Alaska was known as the toughest town on earth with at least 84 saloons, even though it was illegal to consume, possess, or distribute alcoholic beverages! |
|
|
Leaving Skagway, Alaska for the White Pass Summit Area, you will journey along the Klondike Highway, which parallels the White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad train ride.
In between visiting historic points of interest, azure glaciers, thundering waterfalls, majestic mountain vistas, and overlooks of pristine wilderness, your guide will help you relive the Klondike Gold Rush of 1897-99.
One of the many highlights of this portion of the Skagway Spectacular Tour is drinking ice cold refreshing glacier water from Bridal Veil Falls. Take the Skagway Sightseeing Tour and enjoy a sip of history!

Continuing
to parallel the historic White Pass
Trail and White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad train
ride, you will climb 3,292 feet to
the White Pass Summit Area - this is the daunting Tormented Valley of
British Columbia, Canada.
Note: The Tormented Valley contains large areas having an almost "lunar" appearance, making this one of the most unique eco-systems in North America. Here we will explore a forest-tundra ecotone consisting of the blending of a stunted forest of three hundred year old trees, known as "krummholz", and alpine tundra. |
|
The final leg of the Skagway Spectacular will be through the Tormented Valley with optional stops at the Upper and Lower Tormented Valley Overlooks, Divided Lake, and Fraser Lake. As we travel through the Tormented Valley we may view a number of glaciers - weather permitting! |
|
The final stop before returning to Skagway will be at the "Welcome to Alaska" sign. This we can truly say is our most popular photo stop.
