Skagway
Sightseeing Tours:
The Skagway Sightseeing Tour, also known as Brian's Skagway Spectacular, combines a tour of historic Skagway, a tour of the scenic
White Pass Summit Area, and a tour of the daunting Tormented Valley. This
Skagway Sightseeing Tour parallels the White Pass
Railroad train ride much of the way to the White Pass
Summit Area. Brian's 3.5 hour Skagway Spectacular tour is the most entertaining and comprehensive land-based tour offered in Skagway, Alaska and is rich in our Klondike Gold Rush history.
Remember:
Brian's ten plus years of experience narrating our colorful Gold Rush history, enthusiasm for this majestic land, and desire to make this the highlight of your Alaskan experience cannot be duplicated! |

Brian, your tour guide, begins
your shore excursion with a drive through tour
of Skagway's Historic District; bringing to life
Skagway's lawless days during
the Klondike Gold Rush of 1897-99. During this time Skagway, Alaska was known as the toughest town on earth with at least 84 saloons, even though it was illegal to consume, possess, or distribute alcoholic beverages! |

The first stop on Brian's Skagway Spectacular is the Skagway
City Overlook where you will enjoy the breathtaking
view. Here Brian will take your picture with the city of Skagway, your cruise ship in
the harbor, the beautiful Lynn Canal, and the spectacular
Chilkat Mountains. |
|
Next, your Skagway Sightseeing Tour will visit the Klondike Gold Rush Cemetery, a.k.a. Skagway's
Boot Hill. Here Brian will tell the tale of Frank Reid and "Soapy" Smith and their famous gunfight (the most famous shootout since the OK Coral) which changed the future of Skagway, Alaska. |
|
Leaving Skagway, Alaska for the White Pass Summit Area, we will journey along the Klondike Highway, which parallels the White Pass Railroad train ride.
In between visiting historic points of interest, azure glaciers, thundering waterfalls, majestic mountain vistas, and overlooks of pristine wilderness, Brian will help you relive the Klondike Gold Rush of 1897-99.
One of the many highlights of this portion of Brian's Skagway Spectacular Tour is drinking ice cold refreshing glacier water from Bridal Veil Falls. Take this Skagway Sightseeing Tour and enjoy a sip of history!

Continuing
to parallel the historic White Pass
Trail and White Pass Railroad train
ride, we will climb 3,292 feet to
the Summit before descending into
this portion of the daunting Tormented Valley of
British Columbia, Canada.
Note: The Tormented Valley contains large areas having an almost "lunar" appearance, making this one of the most unique eco-systems in North America. Here we will explore a forest-tundra ecotone consisting of the blending of a stunted forest of three hundred year old trees, known as "krummholz", and alpine tundra. |

The final leg of Brian's Skagway Spectacular will be through the Tormented Valley with optional stops at the Upper and Lower Tormented Valley Overlooks, Divided Lake, and Fraser Lake. As we travel through the Tormented Valley we may view a number of glaciers - weather permitting! |

While traveling down the Klondike Highway, you will be awed by the stark beauty carved out by retreating glaciers. As you survey the vast landscape
of the White Pass Summit Area, you
will come face to face with the
rugged, unforgiving wilderness which
inspired such classic authors as
Jack London and Robert Service.
|
The final stop before returning to Skagway will be at the "Welcome to Alaska" sign. This we can truly say is our most popular photo stop.
The journey back to Skagway will be equally entertaining as Brian recites 3 of his favorite poems by the British author Robert Service.
