| Q) |
While
on the Yukon Horseback Adventure, will
we see wildlife?
|
| A) |
The Yukon
Horseback Adventure travels about
58 miles past the White Pass Summit
Area to the Emerald Lake Trail Camp.
Those 58 miles are far less
traveled than the 17 miles from
Skagway to the White Pass Summit
Area, so the chances of seeing wildlife
are much better. Also, during
the Yukon Horseback Adventure we
stop to glass the sides of Caribou
Mountain, the Gray Ridge, and the
Watson River Valley for wildlife. We
occasionally see black bear, grizzly
bear, wolf, coyote, fox, mountain
sheep, mountain goat, mountain caribou,
woodland caribou, moose, and mule
deer.
|
| |
NOTE: We see wildlife more often on
the Yukon Horseback Adventure than
any other tour we offer.
|
| Q) |
I
want to book the Yukon Horseback Adventure,
but what if I cannot convince my group
to go?
|
| A) |
The
Yukon Horseback Adventure and the
Deluxe Yukon Sightseeing Tour can
now be taken together in the same
vehicle. Your entire group will
enjoy the drive to the Emerald Lake
Trail Camp. Those who choose
to go horseback riding will be let
off at the Camp - while those who
choose not to go horseback riding
will be treated to the Deluxe Yukon
Sightseeing Tour. When both tours
are finished the entire group will
return to Skagway - stopping for pictures
along the scenic Klondike Highway.
This is a great compromise!

| Q) |
Is
there a weight limit or age restriction
for the Yukon Horseback Adventure?
|
| A) |
The
weight limit for our horseback riders
is 300 pounds. We normally require
our young riders to be at least eight
years old. Parents who wish to bring
younger children may contact us to
see if an exception may be made.
|
| |
NOTE:
If anyone in your group is less than
5 foot tall or has any medical concerns,
please notify our sales rep when they
contact you to confirm your reservations.
|
| Q) |
While
on the Yukon Horseback Adventure, will
a lunch be provided?
|
| A) |
Since
the Yukon Horseback Adventure is 6
hours in length a snack is provided.
This snack includes a variety
of sweets and beverages. After
your tour we recommend the Alaska
Gourmet Cafe, located on 5th Street,
for the best Sandwiches, Salmon Chowder,
and Buffalo Chili in Skagway.
You may bring a snack with you on
the bus if you choose.
|
| |
NOTE:
We do ask that the only beverage you
bring is water, in a "secure"
water bottle.
|
| Q) |
Does
Southeast Tours provide the transportation
to the Emerald Lake Ranch?
|
| A) |
A few years
ago, White Horse Riding Stables partnered
with Southeast Tours. We established
our operation at Emerald Lake Trail
Camp (Ranch). As partners, Southeast
Tours provides all booking services and the sightseeing tour
to and from the Trail Camp, while White
Horse Riding Stables provides the
horseback ride.
